Margaret Higgins is Executive Director of Casa de Palmas, while continuing in her role as Executive Director of The Haven, a position she has held since January 2005. Margaret brings to The Haven her wealth of academic and business experience. She worked with a media research firm before coming to The Haven, and for the past 15 years has taught graduate level classes on research methodology at The University of Arizona. A native of England, she lived in Australia, New Zealand and North Africa before moving to Tucson. She received her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Communications from the University of Arizona, her Master’s degree in Commerce from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and her Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Western Australia. Due to her vision and guidance, the number of women served each year at The Haven has more than doubled since 2005. Among her many significant contributions to The Haven are her concept of “recovery with respect,” and her insistence that all clients and staff live up to that promise.
